Jane Elder Strategies, LLC
About Jane Elder Strategies
Jane Elder and other affiliated consultants founded Jane Elder Strategies, LLC in 2008 to provide consulting services to nonprofits and public agencies engaged in environmental conservation and protection. After a hiatus, we’re again serving select clients with Jane Elder as the lead consultant. Depending on the scale of a project, we subcontract with other consultants with relevant skill sets to serve the client’s needs.
Clients include environmental groups, professional associations, state and federal agencies, and individuals.
Skills and Background
Nonprofits
With a career in nonprofits large and small, Jane Elder has twenty years of experience as an executive director, serving the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters from 2012-2021, and previously the Biodiversity Project, from 1995-2005. She also has extensive experience with program design and management, strategic planning, multi-sector collaboration, coalition-building, fundraising, and strategic communications, and has served as a member and president on two nonprofit boards (both start-ups).
Strategic Communications
From shaping national strategies to build awareness about threats to biodiversity, to coaching leaders on how to communicate about climate change, Jane understands that information alone isn’t enough to connect with people concerned about today’s environmental issues.

Unpacking the way issues are framed through cultural values and concerns, and the ways language can reach (or put off) potential allies is an important tool for success.
